Syria military regains control over rebel-held border town Yabroud

The Syrian military has reportedly regained its control over rebel border town Yabroud, considered to be the last rebel stronghold near the Lebanese border.

The town has been seized by government forces and Lebanon's Hezbollah allies in the battle for taking full control of key transport routes.

According to the BBC, in mid-February, Assad forces launched a full offensive on Yabroud, which had been controlled by the opposition for much of the three-year conflict.

Meanwhile, an unnamed military spokesman said on state television that the crushing of the terrorist groups is a continuation of the successes made by the Syria army in Qalamoun, adding that it completes an important circle in securing the border regions between Syria and Lebanon, and also cuts the supply roads.
