Taliban leader criticizes Pak govt. for not taking serious initiative for peace talks

A senior Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) leader has criticised the government for not taking any serious initiative until now for holding negotiations with the group.

In a message uploaded on social media networks on Friday, Omar Khalid Khurasani said they are not begging for peace talks, instead they took the initiative of offering peace talks to save Pakistan from more losses.

Khurasani said the Taliban will not deviate from their demand for enforcement of Islamic Shariah in the country and called on the government for making changes in the constitution for the success of negotiations with the group, Dawn News reports.

Khurasani, who is the chief of TTP's Mohmand Agency chapter, further added they are still organised and strong, and very loyal to their chief, Hakeemullah Mehsud.

He reaffirmed that because no ceasefire was agreed upon between the militant group and the government, they continued the terror attacks, including assassination of a Major General in Upper Dir and Peshawar church killings in last two weeks.

Khurasani also claimed that three members of TTP, who had been taken into custody about three months ago, were killed in Karachi this week.
