Tallest Stonehenge stone may have correctly pointed towards mid-summer Solstice sunset

A new study has revealed that new Stonehenge alignment theory might have been right, as monument's tallest stone reportedly pointed correctly at solstice sunset.

Site steward Tim Daw, who discovered the alignment, said that it was possible see the sun going down directly in line with the back of the stone, the BBC has reported.

Daw, who tweeted a theory-proving picture, had discovered the previously unknown alignment, involving a line of stones at 80 degrees to the axis of the monument.

Around 23,000 people gathered in Wiltshire recently to see the sunrise that marks the longest day of the year.
