Indian steel manufacturer, Tata Steel, has won the order of new high speed rail line project linking two holy cities, Mecca and Medina, in Saudi Arabia.

According to The Mirror, the steel for the project will be produced in Britain's Scunthorpe plant and finished there as well as at Hayange rail center, in Northern France.

Tata Steel said that work on the rail link contract is estimated to be worth 30 million pounds.

This order to make 60,000 tonnes of rail will boost jobs at its Scunthorpe plant in north Lincolnshire, the report added.

The new railway will allow millions of pilgrims to cross the 276 miles desert between Mecca and Medina at speeds of 200mph.

The new Saudi line is expected to carry around 160,000 people a day and even more during the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
