Taylor Swift's hit album has become the fastest selling record of the last decade.
According to data from Nielsen Music, the record has sold over 5 million units since its release 36 weeks ago, knocking previous album on the spot, Usher's 'Confessions' to second place, Variety magazine reported.
Usher's album had reached 5 million in 19 weeks in 2004.
'1989' also outdoes Adele's '21,' which has sold 11.1 million copies to date, and had hit the 5 million mark in late 2011 in 42 weeks. Adele's blockbuster album.
