A Twitter account purportedly belonging to terror mastermind Hafiz Saeed, @HafizSaeedJUD, has been suspended after calls were made to not permit the Jamat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief to use the micro-blogging site.
While the reason for the suspension of the account is still unclear, two other accounts @Haafizsaeed and @HSaeedOfficial are reportedly still active.
The news of the account's suspension has reportedly been greeted with celebratory tweets by many Twitter users.
"Hafiz Saeed's twitter a/c has been suspended. Even twitter cudn't swallow the #HafizFact that Modi's 'water terrorism' caused floods in Pak.," read one such tweet.
A tweet by another user, however, sought to notify Twitter about one more account belonging to the JuD chief.
"Want To Notify @twitter That Pak Terrorist Hafiz Saeed Has One More Acc. @HafizSaeedJUD2 Also. Suspend This Also ASAP! Ban All Terrorists!" read the tweet.
Saeed, the mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, had earlier on Thursday addressed a public rally in Lahore where he spewed venom against India and the U.S.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had termed the rally as "mainstreaming of terror", adding that it was a blatant disregard of the global norms against terrorism.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin had said the event was addressed by an individual who was designated as a terrorist under the UN resolution, adding that the facilities provided to a designated terrorist organisation were "a blatant disregard of the global norms against terrorism".
