Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that Terrorism divides, and tourism unites two countries and added that promoting tourism between India and Bhutan is extremely important.
"Terrorism divides, and tourism unites. Promoting tourism between the two countries is extremely important," Modi said, while addressing a joint session of Bhutan Parliament.
"India and Bhutan sharing culture and traditions will be beneficial for the youth. The Himalayas are India and Bhutan's common heritage. Can't all the Himalayan states of India and Bhutan do a shared sports tournament together?" he asked.
He further thanked the people of Bhutan for their warm welcome to the Prime Minister.
"Yesterday the warm welcome I received from the airport till Thimpu was humbling, I am grateful," Modi added.
Modi, who is on a two-day visit to Bhutan, arrived in the country yesterday.
On Monday, he will unveil the foundation stone of the 600 megawatt Kholongchu Hdropower Project. Construction works for the joint venture project is expected to start between September and October this year.
The King of Bhutan will then host a lunch in honour of the prime minister and the Indian delegation before they depart from Thimphu on June 16.
