Thousands of people have attended rallies in Greece over the crucial bailout referendum that is due on Sunday.

According to BBC, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras was greeted with cheers after he told the people to vote "No" to the conditions of an international bailout. Tsipras denied that a "Yes" vote would mean leaving Europe, saying: "We are not going to allow them to destroy Europe".

Meanwhile, Greeks attending another huge rally nearby voiced their fears that a "No" vote would eject Greece from the Eurozone.

A Greek court rejected a challenge that questioned the legality of the referendum that will now go ahead.

Estimates of the crowds gathered in Athens on Friday ranged from 25,000 to 50,000, with police and observers agreeing that the crowds at the "No" rally were bigger.
