At least three people have been killed and over a 1000 houses gutted after a major fire broke out in Hanuman Nagar block of Bihar's Darbhanga district this afternoon.

Sources say that the fire broke out in one house and later spread to the other houses due to breeze. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Several fire tenders are relentlessly working to douse the flames, which eventually spread over a large area.
