Tibetans and Buddhist monks participate in the 'Uprising March'

Tibetans in exile and Buddhist monks participated in the ongoing 'Uprising March' from Dharamsala to Delhi to mark 55 years of Tibet's 1959 first uprising, inspiring the youth and boosting the morale of the community.

A participant, Kelsang Yodon, said that they participated in the march to express solidarity with the self-immolators.

"We are participating in the march to New Delhi as we want to raise our voice and express solidarity with the self-immolating Tibetans as a mark of their protest against Chinese rule especially after 2009 in Tibet," said Yodon.

The march, which is scheduled to cover a distance of about 600 kilometres, aims to support the Tibetans suffering from Chinese brutalities in Tibet.

It will cover Indian cities including Chandigarh, Ambala, Kurukshetra and Panipat.

International relations and information secretary for the Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC), Tsewang Dolma hailed the high spirit of the participants of the uprising march.

"Their spirit is very high. It's going to be tough but still their spirit will definitely bring lots of motivation and inspiration to our Tibetan community, especially to our coming generation," said Dolma.

Members of Tibetan Youth Congress embarked on an 'Uprising March' on Sunday to express solidarity with the self-immolators protesting the repressive Chinese rule in Tibet.

Tibetan Uprising Day, which is observed on March 10, commemorates the 1959 Tibetan uprising against the presence of the People's Republic of China in Tibet.
