Moved by the recent tragedy in Uttarakhand, the Tibetans residing in-exile at Dharamshala came forth to extend help to the devastated families and others in distress.
They collected relief materials and funds from locals of Dharamshala, the seat of the Tibetan government-in-exile to help the flood victims.
The members of Tibetan Youth Congress and Women's Association joined hands in mobilising funds in aid of the victims of the nature's fury in Uttarakhand.
They drew people's attention by raising their voices on loud speakers and displaying posters with photographs of the disaster sites.
Briefing media, a member of Tibetan Youth Congress, Tenzin Tsundue, said that the recent disaster was of great concern to the Tibetans.
"We are deeply concerned about the people in Uttarakhand. Thousands of people in Uttarakhand have lost their lives and more than that number of people are homeless today. So, we the local Dharamsala Tibetan Youth Congress and Women's Association, (are) coming together to collect money. We are going to send the money to Uttarakhand," said Tenzin Tsundue.
Reportedly, the Central Tibetan Administration has also announced to contribute rupees Rs.300,000 the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the flood victims.
Flash floods and landslides in Uttarakhand unleashed by early monsoon rains have killed more than 670 people and left tens of thousands homeless besides an equal number missing.
