Elaborate and tight security arrangements have been put in place across Jammu and Kashmir to ward off the possibility of a terrorist or extremist strike during the 69th Independence Day celebrations that will be observed in the state today.

The security arrangements within and outside Srinagar's Bakhshi Stadium has been beefed up. All the roads around the Bakshi Stadium have reportedly been sealed for traffic and pedestrian movement. Concertina wire and makeshift drop gates have also been installed in and around the venue.

Sharp shooters have been deployed on high-rises around the stadium to ensure that no attack can be launched on the parade venue.

The state's Inspector General of Police,Javaid Mujtaba Gillani said that elaborate security arrangements have been put in place in Srinagar city and other places in the valley.
