Terming the postponement of his previous concert as "fishy", prominent Carnatic singer TM Krishna confirmed on Friday that he will be performing in an event organised by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal led government in Delhi tomorrow.
He said, "I am singing in Delhi tomorrow, the Delhi Government is hosting the concert which is going to be held in the Garden of Five Senses near Saket at 6.30 pm. I invite everyone to come."
Responding to the criticism he is facing from certain groups on the social media for being highly vocal on political issues, Krishna told ANI: "There is a certain section of people in the society who are trying to scare people. These are the people who do not know what democracy means and what it means to be an Indian. Everybody has an opinion. But nobody should be attacked because of that. India is a country of multiple culture and religions. However, some people are trying to narrow it down."
"Words like urban naxal, presstitute, anti-Indian are created by people who do not know what democracy is. They want to scare you and make other people angry at you. They are using these reasons today to stop a festival," he added.
The two-day SPIC-MACAY concert, which has now been postponed, was scheduled to be held on November 17 and 18 at New Delhi's Nehru Park in Chanakyapuri area where Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan (Sitar), TM Krishna, Dr. Sonal Mansingh (Odissi) and Priyadarsini Govind (Bharatnatyam) were supposed to perform. Citing 'urgent engagements', the organisers said that the new dates will be announced shortly.
This abrupt postponement led to speculations that the event was cancelled after the organisers were trolled by a certain section on the social media for inviting Krishna as one of the artistes. Krishna, a Magsaysay award winner, had on November 10 participated in another SPIC MACAY event in Jaipur.
