A new poll has suggested that gossiping and hunting for new jobs while at work are among few things that will cause you to lose your job.

According to WTOP, the survey by jobs website Monster.com in collaboration with a New York-based recruiter has found that 'lying on the CV' is the top cause that can get an employee fired, News.com.au reported.

While spending time making personal phone calls and surfing the internet at work in quit common among employees, doing either of these things too much can result in you getting fired.

Other things included boozing on the job, sleeping with the boss, being careless with numbers, alienating your co-workers and not accepting responsibility, aka pointing the finger at someone else.
