The trade union members on Wednesday said that they called the nationwide strike over NDA's proposed changes in Labor laws.
"This strike is against the Road Safety Bill and Transport Act and the labour laws as well. The strike has been called by the All India Transport Federation," said a trade union worker.
"They have proposed deterrent punishment for the drivers under the new provisions, which will make it difficult for the drivers," he added.
However, the members said that the union has not asked its drivers to go for the strike, they voluntarily participated in the strike.
"The new laws by the government have been made against the employees so the union members have decided to show their strength to the government," said another member.
"We have stopped all our services to people for the next 24 hours," he added.
Essential services are likely to be impacted today with 10 central trade unions going ahead with one-day nationwide strike to protest against changes in labour laws.
