An auto rickshaw was hit by a speeding train today at a crossing at the Motihari district of Bihar. An unconfirmed number of casualties has been reported in this collision between the Dehradun-Gorakhpur Rapti Ganga Express and the three wheeler.
The incident happened when an overcrowded auto rickshaw was attempting to cross the manned railway crossing near Semra railway station.
Bihar has witnessed several railway accidents in recent times. In March, a Nepal bound-goods train had rammed into a tractor in Raxaul district of Bihar. In the same month, a train had hit a tempo at a manned crossing near Bachwara station, killing one and injuring five.
