U.S. President Donald Trump welcomed Jordan's King Abdullah II to the White House on Wednesday.
Taking to his Twitter page, Trump wrote, "I am deeply committed to preserving our strong relationship & to strengthening America's long-standing support for Jordan. @KingAbdullahII."
Trump and first lady Melania greeted King Abdullah and Queen Rania Al-Abdullah at the West Wing portico.
About the meeting, the U.S. President tweeted, "The King has been a leader in calling for a plan to defeat ISIS once and for all. This is what we spoke about today, and that is what we are going to do - we will destroy ISIS, and we will protect civilization. King Abdullah and I also discussed measures to combat the evil ideology that inspires ISIS and plagues our planet."
He further wrote, "The historical ties and close friendship between our two countries date back three-quarters of a century. In that time, the Middle East has faced many periods of crisis and unrest. Through them all, America has looked to Jordan as a valued partner, an advocate for the values of civilization and a source of stability and hope.
