Microblogging site Twitter witnessed varied reactions to the historic deal between Microsoft and Nokia worth 7.2 billion dollars with some tweeters calling it a good move and others exhibiting little amazement owing to the falling Nokia shares.
With the recent acquisition by software giant Microsoft, Nokia's decades-long heritage has come to an end, Guardian reports.
A Twitter user, Harry Wallop connected the recent announcement of Verizon acquiring UK based Vodafone and asked if the Nokia deal was a rerun of proper deal making.
Another user, Robert Peston tweeted if Microsoft's 7 billion dollar purchase of Nokia's mobile phone business is a reshaping of telecoms landscape or two drunks propping themselves up at a party.
The report added one user posting a graph about Nokia's slumping shares by 95 percent from its 2000 peak.
Some users talked about the 32,000 strong staff that Microsoft will be getting via Nokia while one tweeter, David Jones posted a picture showing Nokia shares up 45 percent with the announcement of Microsoft deal which was back to 2012 highs.
While a dejected user announced that the already slumping business has been brought by Microsoft completing the humiliation.
