White House press secretary Sean Spicer managed to come under the spotlight yet again, as he showed up at his Friday press briefing wearing an upside-down American flag pin on his lapel.
The journalists present at the White House immediately brought it to his attention, following which he fixed it and tried to resume the proceedings.
"Your pin's upside-down," Fox News's John Roberts said. "John Roberts, always helping with the fashion tips," Spicer quipped.
"It's still upside-down," another reporter reminded him. 'House of Cards'?" someone asked. "There's no promo," Spicer assured the journalists. He then fixed the pin, thanked the media and moved on.
However, that did not stop the Internet from pouncing on Spicer and immediately spawning a string of creative tweets and memes.
Meanwhile, the official handle for the drama 'House of Cards' did not waste time in responding to what had just happened and joined the Internet.
"Is Spicer's upside down flag lapel pin a distress signal? Blink twice if you need help, Sean" one tweet read, as according to the U.S. Code, "the flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.
