Two Maoists were killed in an exchange of fire with the security forces in reserve forests near Sanguel, Chhattisgarh, on Saturday morning.
There was local input that a group of Maoists are coming towards Bastanar Ghat after crossing the Indravati to receive a top Maoist leader. Same input was also received from Special Intelligence Branch (SIB).
"The exchange of fire lasted for one hour, where our forces comprising DRG, DF and CAF of PS Burgum retaliated very promptly. After a general search of the area, two male Maoists dead bodies were recovered with one 12 bore and one SBML rifle. There are huge recovery of other items, including explosives, detonators, pipe bombs, codex wire, pithu, magazine pouch, battery, electric wire etc" Superintendent of Police, Jagdalpur Rajendra Narayan Dash said.
"The Maoist group seems to be that of Vilas of Barsur Area Committee with which we had another EOF in last August. This group has targeted the weekly market of Burgum on 1st October 2015 where Constable Manarau Benjam was martyred," he clarified.
