Taxi company Uber says that its database containing the names and drivers' license numbers of 50,000 of its drivers in the US was hacked in May last year.

According to CBS News, the ride-sharing service says it has notified the drivers and hasn't received any reports of the information being misused.

The company said that it will provide the affected drivers with a one-year membership in Experian's ProtectMyID Alert identity theft protection service.

Uber said that while the breach involved drivers in multiple states, only a 'small percentage' of its current and former drivers were affected by it.
