The English media has claimed that although England has been the dominant side in the current Ashes series, in the public mind, doubts were creeping in because of complacency and hammering of England bowlers.
According to the Mirror, when the urn is presented to Alastair Cook on Sunday, there will be concern amid the triumph as Australia totally ruled the roost on the opening two days of the fifth Ashes Test, posting a score of 492/9.
The report said that debutant spinner Simon Kerrigan had to be protected by Alastair Cook by not being asked to bowl, as he could be a bowler for England for the future.
Cook is trying to make history by becoming the first England captain to beat Australia 4-0 in a series.
