The Government of Ukraine has claimed that it has captured two Russian officers who were operating in the rebel-held east part of the nation.

Fox News quoted Ukrainian military spokesman Andriy Lysenko, as saying that the two Russian officers were caught by the volunteer Aidar Battalion in the town of Shchastia, and they were now being interrogated.

Aidar's Facebook page said both Russian soldiers were injured during an encounter on Sunday.

Ukrainian Member of Parliament Anton Herashchenko posted a video on Facebook that purportedly one of the captured Russian soldiers being questioned.

The young man was lying in a hospital bed, and had identified himself as Sergeant Alexander Alexandrov of the Russian Special Forces from the Volga River city of Togliatti.

He also said he was operating in the area with a group of 14 men.

So far, over 6,100 people have been killed in the conflict between pro-Russia separatists and government troops in east Ukraine.

Shchastia is located less than 20-kilometers north of the rebel-held regional capital of Luhansk.
