Veteran Pakistani pacer Umar Gul has said that he would be delighted if he is offered the vacant Twenty20 captain post but only if he is fully fit and regains his top form.

Gul, who has struggled with his fitness since last year, missed the last eight Tests for his country although he is now targeting competing for the 2015 one-day World Cup.

According to The Nation, Gul said that although he would be delighted if the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) offered him the responsibility to lead the national T20 side, however, he is currently focusing on regaining his full fitness as the knee operation he had last year has affected his career a lot.

But Gul admitted that he is considering the captaincy as he wants to return to performing like he used to in the past, although he insisted that he has no issue playing under any captain, either senior or junior to him

Gul further said that for the sake of fitness and for the ongoing training camp, he had turned down an offer from Somerset so that he could prepare hard for the upcoming international cricket.
