The abducted Nigerian girls, who are still being held captive by the Islamist terror group Boko Haram, face the danger of being raped, a UN official has warned.
Zainab Hawa Bangura told a luncheon at the British Residence in New York that she was worried that the girls don't come back half pregnant.
According to News 24, Bangura was meeting with editors, including Tina Brown, and the British ambassador to the US in preparation for an unprecedented global summit next week in London on sexual violence in conflict.
She stressed that the international community needed to prepare the girls' families for their return and put psychological and other supports in place for the girls, the report said.
More than 300 Nigerian schoolgirls were abducted by the notorious Boko Haram in April.
Their kidnapping has caused an outrage among the Nigerian communities and people around the world.
Presently, more than 200 Nigerian girls remain captives of the Islamist extremist group.
