Undefeated American boxing star Floyd Mayweather Jr is reportedly the highest-paid professional athlete in the United States with expected earnings of at least 90 million dollars this year from just two bouts.
According to Sports Illustrated magazine, the welterweight champion, who is considered the best defensive boxer of his generation, has topped the magazine's Fortunate 50 list, Sport24 reports.
The report further said that Mayweather also took the top spot last year, earning an estimated 85 million dollars, again from just two fights.
According to the report, US basketball star LeBron James came in this year in the number two slot, with a 56.5 million dollar fortune, while golf ace Tiger Woods dropped to the No. 5 slot on this year's list with 40.8 million dollars.
The report further said that the list is calculated by combining estimated salary, winnings and endorsements, adding that candidates for the list must be U.S. citizens and compete in a U.S.-based league.
