'Unsung heroes' honoured at 1st Nagaland Red Carpet Social Awards

Nineteen "unsung heroes" from Nagaland were honoured at the first edition of Nagaland Red Carpet Social Awards for their contributions in the field of art, sports, entertainment and society.

Organised by the Find Studioz at IMC hall in Dimapur, the event saw well-known Bollywood actress Mahima Choudhry felicitating the awardees.

At the event, she said, "I am a big fan of your [Nagaland] culture and (I hope you) remain like this".

Deputy commissioner of Dimapur Sushil Kumar, who was the chief guest, said, 'The need to recognise these heroes is important and Find Studioz has taken the time and effort to recognise all the "unsung heroes."

Parliamentary secretary of Tourism C Apok Jamir was also present.

The names of the nineteen heroes are as follows:

1. Sangti Konyak: A social activist who constructed a road for the people of Tobu and opened a library for the jail inmates and started an RTI group in their village.

2. Sifu Zhenito Awomi: He is known as the All India Great grandmaster. The All India Kung Fu Championship in Nagaland was organized in his honour.

3. NK Keny: She won the Best Para Legal Volunteer in 2015. She works for the rights of the women and children in the region.

4. Zhokhoi Chuzho: He is the lead actor in the famous Naga movie 'Nana'. He has worked in many Bollywood movies. He is also a Martial art expert.

5. Keyisuiding Lungalang: He is the All India best fighter in Martial arts. He is also representing India in the World Championship in Mexico.

6. Zinen Nillo Kath, Watipongla, Awa: Actors who acted in the first Bollywood film, shot in Nagaland.

7. T. Lima Naro Jamir: She is the first Naga costume designer in Bollywood.

8. Niketu Iralu: An active activist working for reconciliation, healing and peacebuilding in Nagaland and N.E. India. One of the Trustees of the Centre for North East Studies on policy research.

9. Zhimomi Brothers: Believing in the dignity of labour the four brothers have their roadside stall in city tower.

10. Nekhoto Tunyi: He was awarded for his immense contribution to sports.

11. Cynthia Kolakhe: Her work got featured in Elle magazine

12. Vikhili: He blindness couldn't stop her from making beautiful handicrafts. She sponsored education for three blind children.

13. Jenpu Romgmei: Being a young social activist, he works for the upliftment of youths in the region. He founded the Can Youth social organisation established in 2012.

14. Silverline Academy: It looks after Special children from neighbouring states also.

15. Nagaland Motorcycle Club (NMC): Founded in 2010 NMC members go by the name Naga chiefs. They do voluntary charities and humanitarian social activities.

16. Sentipokla Jamir: From selling pickles online to sponsoring a young girl's education to fighting child labour, especially those coming from the eastern area, she has done it all. Sheformed 'women empowerment' with four women team member.

17. Hill theatre: Paper

18. Jonathan Rongsen Longkumer: He is the only Naga Cricketer who played and won many matches.

19. Sandemo Ngullie: He is an editorial cartoonist. He is the Governor's Award for Excellence in Arts (2016), recipient.
