Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) president Amit Shah on Monday slammed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, saying the ongoing family drama will not divert the voters attention from the scams and deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
"Akhilesh Yadav is thinking that the people will forget all this in lieu of the family drama that has been happening. I want to tell him that the family drama will not hide any wrong doing of the government and the BJP will emerge as the winner," he said.
Shah took potshots at law and order condition of Uttar Pradesh by calling it as 'gundaraj'.
"The UP government was involved in many scandals in their rule. The law and order condition in the state is pathetic. Women are unsafe and the farmers are getting poorer day by day. There is 'gundaraj'," he added.
In a bid to woo the voters, Shah gave examples of how India has developed and progressed under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.
"Prime Minister Modi has taken the nation way ahead in terms of development. We have given such a government to the nation that nobody in the whole world can accuse us of corruption," Shah said.
In this phase 73 seats are at stake for which nominations can be filed till tomorrow. Whereas for the 67 seats of second phase, the last date of nomination filing is January 27 and only 16 candidates filed their nomination so far.
Including today and tomorrow, only two working days are available for the filing of nomination of first phase.
After the announcement of poll coalition between Samajwadi Party and Congress, a rush into nomination filing is expected in these two days.
Mayawati has said that she will initiate her poll campaigning from 1st of February whereas Akhilesh Yadav is slated to start his campaigning blitzkrieg from 24th January.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also announced its list of star campaigners whereas in the Congress, people are expecting Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi to announce their campaigning schedule soon.
