Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has expressed regret over the turmoil prevailing in Punjab, and said he did feel helpless at not being able to stop the unrest.
Badal expressed his sentiments before the Jathedar of the Akal Takht, Giani Gurbachan Singh.
A visibly disturbed Badal paid obeisance at the Sri Harmandir Sahib and offered prayers for peace, communal harmony, brotherhood and amity in the state.
Later, interacting with media, Badal said some forces inimical to the progress of state were hell bent upon destroying the hard earned peace.
"These forces will be exposed before the people. They will not be able to succeed in their nefarious designs against the state," he said.
Punjab is in turmoil following the pardoning of Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim and incidents of desecration of the Guru Granth Sahib at various places in the state.
Badal spent over two hours at the shrine.
Meanwhile, employees of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandhak Committee (SGPC) took out a march in Amritsar on Saturday, demanding the early arrest of culprits desecrating the Guru Granth sahib in Faridkot District. (ANI)
