A new study by Chatham House has revealed that adequate dietary changes like eating less meat, need to be considered for controlling global warming, but they have yet to be implemented in the required manner to achieve the desired results, the Guardian reported.

People around the world should inculcate healthy eating habits to restrain greenhouse gas emissions from meat and dairy products, the report said.

Government and social organizations have been unable to curb meat intake due to customer's high demand for meat and beef in the market, it added.

Rob Bailey, the author of the report said that authorities have done a lot in the case of deforestation and transportation, but to eradicate catastrophic warming people also have to think about what they eat.

It doesn't mean everyone has to be a vegetarian, but proper dietary changes ought to be done and healthy eating habits need to be encouraged, he further added.

Bailey also mentioned that keeping meat eating on a low level would not only help in lowering gas emission, but will also help reduce heart disease and cancer.
