US federal agents asked to stay away from 'world's biggest hackers' conference'

The US federal agents have been reportedly asked to stay away from the world's biggest hacker gathering in Las Vegas this year.

According to the BBC, the agents have been asked to take 'time-out' from the Def Con convention in light of the recent revelations about US led surveillance program by whistleblower Edward Snowden.

The Def Con event beginning from 1 August will see 15,000 hackers debate security topics and demonstrate their coding prowess.

Founder of the hacking conference, Jeff Moss posted the request to the agents on the event's main webpage and said that it would be best for everyone involved if the federal agents call a 'timeout' and not attend Def Con this year.

Moss added that the Def Con organisers were not going to be checking the identities of everyone who attended to weed out federal agents and send them packing.

Moss had earlier said that the community operates in the spirit of openness, verified trust, and mutual respect and a state of affairs that had led to an exchange of information that had seemed mutually beneficial, the report added.
