The White House has applauded the European Union's (EU) decision to blacklist Lebanon's military group Hezbollah for being a threat to global stability.
The Fox News reports that EU's decision has allowed government officials to crack down on the group's fundraising, logistics and terror plots in Europe. White House spokesman Jay Carney said that the move sends a clear message that there are consequences for the Lebanese group's terrorist activities.
Carney also criticized Hezbollah for supporting Syrian President Bashar Assad responsible for the ongoing two-and-a-half year civil conflict in the country that has killed nearly 93,000 people.
