US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel has ordered immediate actions for full review of the nation's nuclear force.
Hagel has summoned top military officials to a Pentagon conference in a bid to discuss problems infesting the nuclear force, and draw an action plan within 60 days, as well as fix the problems quickly, the Washington Times reports.
The Pentagon chief also said he would assemble a small group of outsiders with expertise in the nuclear field to conduct a broader review of the U.S. nuclear force.
Washington D.C. has been rocked by disclosures about security lapses, poor discipline, weak morale and other problems that raise questions about nuclear security.
A Navy spokesman said that Hagel wants the gaps in the implementation of training and professional standards to be closed, and wants the leaders to be held accountable for failing in their duties.
