The US' National Security Agency (NSA) has reportedly admitted to some of its analysts deliberately violating surveillance norms in the agency over the past ten years.

The NSA said that 'very rare instances of willful violations of the agency's authorities ' have been found adding that those involved have been disciplined.

According to Fox News, NSA said that none of the abuses involved violations of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) or the USA Patriot Act, which were contrarily highlighted by whistleblower Edward Snowden in his leaks.

The Senate Intelligence Committee was chairman said that these willful violations amounted to roughly one in a year while Obama administration officials and intelligence overseers in Congress have described the violations as inadvertent, the report added.
