Uthappa's half-century guides KKR to six-wicket win over Mumbai Indians in IPL

The Kolkata Knight Riders have sailed to a six-wicket victory over the Mumbai Indians with eight balls to spare in their Indian Premier League (IPL) clash at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Wednesday.

Robin Uthappa struck nine boundaries and three maximums in his innings of 80 off just 52 deliveries as Kolkata ended on 142 for four in reply to Mumbai's 141 for five.

According to Sport24, Uthappa and Gautam Gambhir (14) gave the hosts the perfect start with an opening stand of 50 off 46 balls before Harbhajan Singh had his compatriot chopping the ball onto the stumps in the eighth over.

The report mentioned that Yusuf Pathan, playing in his 100th match, struck three boundaries and hit the winning runs, in his unbeaten innings of 20 off 13 balls while earlier Rohit Sharma scored a valiant half century off 45 balls for the visitors, which included four boundaries and two sixes.

The win moves Kolkata onto 10 points after 10 matches but they remain in fourth position, two points behind the Rajasthan Royals, while Mumbai now trail Kolkata by four points with just four matches remaining in the group stage of the competition, the report added.
