Uttarakhand food supply in-charge for flood devastated areas, M.H. khan here on Sunday said whatever food supply is coming is not being sent back.

"Whatever food supply is coming is not being sent back; we are working in 8 hour shifts and keeping vigilant and active 24/7 and we have established a centre at Maharana Pratap sports centre. We have 10 to 15 officers and officials stationed there and whatever supply is coming; whether it is 1 or 5 or 15 trucks-all the supplies are being received and till date 274 vehicles have been dispatched and the state of things is very good."

Flood affected areas in Uttarakhand have already received 274 food and supply vehicles to assist in relief work.

The disposal of corpses is important to eliminate the risk of contaminating the water supply and outbreaks of diseases such as diarrhoea and cholera.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain earlier in the day said that compensation should be given to the families of people who are still missing in flood-ravaged Uttarakhand.

"Compensation should be given to the families of the people who are still missing," Hussain said.

He further said: "By setting up control rooms in different regions, an estimate of number of people who have died must be made.
