Dutchman Robin van Persie came back with a bang as Manchester United eased past Cardiff 2-0, but he will be continuously on target as playmaker Juan Mata makes his debut to demonstrate his worth.

Mata made an immediate impact in his debut match, sparking the move that led to Van Persie's sixth-minute opener, Stuff.co.nz reports.

Mata enjoyed a winning start to life at Manchester United as van Persie and Ashley Young scored the goals.
