Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has said that he wants to extend his contract at the Old Trafford club, ending speculations that he may leave in the summer following troubles with the management.

It has also been suggested that the Dutch player has not been impressed by manager David Moyes' training methods.

According to the BBC, however, the Netherlands international insisted that he is content and 'very happy' at United and would be delighted to extend his four-year contract beyond the two years remaining.

Ahead of Sunday's encounter with old rivals Liverpool, Van Persie said that he is constantly learning new things and progressing with Moyes, especially during the sessions on the training ground, adding that there is a mutual respect between them and the work environment is also good at the club.

Van Persie has admitted the huge amount of debate about his future is partly down to his limited public statements, saying that he only needs to address situations when people are taking it upon themselves to think for him, make assumptions, or interpret things as if they are him.
