Vice Prez polls: AIADMK Panneerselvam faction extends support to Naidu

E. Panneerselvam led faction of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on Monday extended its support to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Vice Presidential Candidate M. Venkaiah Naidu.

"As soon as the BJP named Venkaiah Naidu as its presidential candidate, the AIADMK Puratchi Thalaivi Amma' extended its support to him. Now, we have come here to meet him and reiterate our support," Panneerselvam said after meeting Naidu.

Meanwhile, Naidu thanked AIADMK faction for their support and also expressed confidence of gaining support from other political party.

"E. Panneerselvam faction of the AIADMK have all come together and I am happy they are the first party to make announcement of extending support to my candidature. I am thankful to them and their party," Naidu said after meeting Panneerselvam.

Naidu has also been backed by Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh.

Voting for Vice Presidential elections will take place on August 5.

The term of Vice President Hamid Ansari, who is also ex-officio Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, ends on August 10.
