Former Samajwadi Party leader Kamal Farooqui on Wednesday slammed senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kailash Vijayvargiya for his controversial comments on Shah Rukh Khan, saying the former was a hard core Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha (RSS) believer and one can't expect anything better from him.
"I don't feel like commenting about Kailash Ji, because he is a hard core RSS man, so you can't expect anything better than this from him," Farooqui told ANI.
"To him, everybody who is talking about the intolerance in the country, right from his Excellency President of India, the vice President, the scientists, the artists; they all in their views are the Pakistani or the anti-national and I don't expect anything better from him," he added.
Farooqui also said that people like Vijayvargiya were the main factors who were creating more harm to the country than anybody else.
"These people are taking the country back to the old ages. They will not be in a position to do any good to the country rather they are the divisive forces," he added.
Vijayvargiya had earlier painted Shah Rukh Khan as an "anti-nationalist" and condemned him over his "extreme intolerance" comment, saying his "soul" was in Pakistan though he lives in India.
"Shah Rukh lives in India, but his soul is in Pakistan. His films make crores here but he thinks India to be intolerant," he said in a series of tweets amid mounting concerns over the "climate of intolerance" in the country.
"If this is not anti-nationalist, then what is it? India is making a bid to become a permanent member of the United Nations and all the anti-Indian forces including Pakistan are creating a conspiracy," he said.
Shah Rukh had openly stated that there was an "extreme intolerance" in the country, saying intolerance towards creativity and religion will hurt the country.
"There is intolerance, there is extreme intolerance... there is I think... there is growing intolerance," he said.
