Exiled-Tibetans held special prayers for the long life of their spiritual leader the Dalai Lama here on Tuesday.
Buddhists and Tibetans living-in-exile in various parts of India gathered in Tsuglagkhang and prayed for the 14th Dalai Lama, who turned 80 earlier this year.
"Since His Holiness, the Dalai Lama is the root guru of all of us. We are merely disciples here gathered in order to offer our respect to His Holiness, the Dalai Lama and get blessings from him from His Holiness. So, basically everybody has the same motivation, same feelings towards His Holiness," said Samten Dorjee, a disciple from Nepal.
Apart from Buddhist monks and nuns, several artistes also took part in the prayer ceremony and performed traditional Tibetan dance to welcome the Dalai Lama.
At the occasion, the Dalai Lama imparted teachings on compassion and empowerment.
