Indian ace boxer Vikas Krishan failed to end his country's agonising wait for an Olympic medal as he lost the quarterfinal bout against Uzbekistan's Bektemir Melikuziev in the men's middleweight (75kg) category here at the Rio Games on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old Haryana lad suffered a 0-3 defeat to Melikuziev by a unanimous decision at Riocentro-Pavilion 6.
The 20-year-old Uzbek produced a far superior performance, delivering sharp jabs and powerful punches to keep Vikas at bay in all three rounds.
With the loss, Indian challenge in boxing has come to an end.
