Viswanathan Anand loses world chess champion title to Norway's Magnus Carlsen

Indian grandmaster and defending champion, Viswanathan Anand lost the title to the 22-year-old Norwegian Magnus Carlsen, after the 10th game of the World Chess Championship match ended in a draw here today.

Carlsen, who is the new world chess champion, got the required half-a-point needed to reach 6.5 points, by winning three and drawing seven games.

Viswanathan Anand after the match said: "I am really disappointed with my play."

Carlsen, who got his maiden title, said that he felt honoured to play against the Indian grandmaster.

"He (Anand) is one of the all time greats, I am really honoured and happy to win,' he said.
