Waqar Younis has admitted that the game could significantly regress in Pakistan if rival teams continue to avoid visiting the nation following the 2009 militant attack on the Sri Lankan team, insisting that they have fallen behind their opponents in terms of cricketing standards.
The former Pakistan pace spearhead said that the biggest hurt was that they were not able to stage international matches.
Seeking Pakistan government's help regarding on the matter, Waqar opined that he feared the game might die out as they lack talent at junior level, insisting that they have to bring international cricket back.
Waqar further said that they were well behind other teams, adding that if they want to save Pakistan cricket they have to lift their domestic game as there was a big difference in standards at the World Cup, the Dawn reported.
The Pakistan Cricket Board managed to bring Kenya for a short one-day series last year and are negotiating with Zimbabwe for a visit in May this year.
