Cricket New South Wales (NSW) has reportedly warned Australian batsman David Warner that he needs to keep his 'distractions to a minimum' and focus on getting runs following his skipping his grade club match in favour of net practice.
While, handing down a one-match suspension, Cricket NSW made it clear to Warner that he will be stood down for a Ryobi Cup or Sheffield Shield match if he commits any further misdemeanours this season.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Cricket NSW stated that Warner is aware that he needs to focus on scoring runs and keep 'distractions to a minimum', adding that the board has outlined steps to assist him in this process, including additional fitness training and specialist batting sessions.
The board further said that Warner, who is planning to apologise to the teammates of his grade club Randwick-Petersham, had undergone the outlined steps in order to prepare for the Ryobi Cup match against Victoria on Monday.
In addition, Warner has been ordered to play the next two Saturdays of grade cricket for Randwick-Petersham, and the third Saturday if his state commitments permit, and to visit two other grade clubs to promote a NSW road safety strategy aimed at young men, the report added.
