Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) personnel on Saturday night seized gold worth Rs. 1.6 crore at New Jalpaiguri railway station.
The DRI personnel intercepted three persons Ahmed Ali, Chiyaful Ali, Mohammad Ali who were travelling form Assam in Delhi-bound Sampark Kranti express on seizure of thirty-two kilograms of gold.
Advocate DRI Ajay Choudhury told ANI, "The DRI team intercepted three persons from Delhi-bound Sampark Kranti express after they received information from confidential source."
He further said that the team could recover the gold biscuits which were cleverly hidden inside the shoes of the accused.
The DRI officials informed that the consignment was coming from Myanmar through Indo-Manipur border.
The accused were arrested and sent to fourteen-day jail custody.
