Legendary England and West Ham captain Bobby Moore has become the overwhelming winner of a vote run by to be honoured with a new waxwork statue at Madame Tussauds, coinciding with next summer's World Cup.
According to Metro.co.uk, Moore, who guided his country to World Cup glory in 1966, beat off competition from the likes of Diego Maradona, Pele and Franz Beckenbauer to poll more than 90 per cent of the vote.
A PR manager for Madame Tussauds London said that there were many talented footballers in the world who could be termed World Cup Greats but they wanted the player as someone who was chosen by fans, adding that the response had been staggering.
Moore's widow, Stephanie said that she was absolutely thrilled to hear the result, and the fact that the final vote was made by the public made it even more special.
