South Africa's swashbuckling skipper AB de Villiers' blitzkrieg with the bat during his side's 257-run win over the West Indies, saw Twitter getting flooded with praise for the star batsman.
Former cricket greats and fans from across the globe posted in their tweets as De Villiers was unstoppable in his unbeaten knock of 162 that came off 66 balls, including 17 fours and eight sixes.
De Villiers now holds the record for the fastest half-century, fastest ton and fastest 150 in ODI cricket, Sport24 reported.
Former South Africa skipper Graeme Swann tweeted that De Villiers is incredible, adding that it was a great statement from the batters.
Former England skipper Michael Vaughan also lauded De Villiers for his stunning knock, tweeting that he guesses the authorities would just blame the modern bats for the 162 off 66 balls from the South African captain.
Former South Africa all-rounder Shaun Pollock tweeted 'Float like a butterfly, sting like AB', referring to boxing legend Muhammad Ali's favourite quote 'Float like a butterfly, Sting like a bee'.
Pollock also tweeted that when De Villiers bats, the fielders become spectators and the spectators become fielders.
Cricket South Africa tweeted a picture on De Villiers' blitzkrieg that they don't break records, they set them.
These tweets came amongst many others as De Villiers guided his team to a daunting 409-run target for West Indies to win, before South Africa bundled up the Caribbean side for a meagre 151.
