One in three workers, who call in sick, are absolutely fine, according to a research.

The study was based on surveys of 2,494 US hiring managers and human resource professionals and nearly 4,000 US workers.

The research revealed that most common reasons as to why an employee calls in sick is because he/she just don't feel like going to work or felt that they needed time to relax.

Other reasons included having doctor's appointments and needing to catch up on sleep or some work, News.com.au reported.

One weird excuse that a person gave was that his/her dog had a nervous breakdown, another one said that a dead grandmother was being exhumed for a police investigation.

One of the much weird one was that her/his toe was stuck in a faucet.

Another stupid excuse was that an employee got upset after watching 'The Hunger Games.
