Arsenal football team manager Arsene Wenger said that he is thankful to fans who sang his name as his side returned to their winning ways with their 4-1 victory over Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Supporters had verbally abused the Frenchman post last week's 3-2 defeat at Stoke City. However, Arsenal thrashing Newcastle saw fans chanting 'there's only one Arsene Wenger' at Emirates Stadium. Wenger said that their job is to win football games and when they don't do it he understands when the fans are not happy.

Although Arsenal remains 13 points adrift of Premier League leaders Chelsea, Saturday's emphatic win over Newcastle, days after defeating Galatasaray by the same scoreline in the Champions League, has lifted spirits after frustrations boiled over at Stoke, The BBC reported.

Wenger said that they lost, unfortunately, at Stoke and they feel guilty for that, but added that 99.9 percent it is people with full respect even when they're not happy. He claimed that he can take the 0.1 percent, admitting that he is thankful for the fans singing his name at the end of the match, adding that it's very nice to get support from the crowd.

However, Wenger said that the most important thing for him is to win football games and the best way to make their fans happy is to do that.
